CSS pixels vs physical pixels
Browsers often report a smaller logical resolution on high-density displays. A 2× device pixel ratio means each CSS pixel is drawn using roughly four physical pixels, keeping text readable while preserving sharp edges.
Why viewport size changes
The viewport excludes browser controls and changes with window size, zoom, orientation and mobile interface bars. It is the useful number for web layout testing; physical pixel estimates are more relevant for wallpapers and display hardware.
