About Dead Pixel Tester
deadpixeltester.com is a small independent project that provides a fast, free online dead pixel test for anyone who just bought a new screen, is buying second-hand hardware, or wants to check whether that annoying dot is really there or just a speck of dust.
Our mission
Give everyone a professional-grade dead pixel checker without downloads, signups, or trackers. Whether you own a $200 budget laptop or a $3,000 OLED gaming monitor, you deserve a working screen.
Why we built a free screen checker
A single dead or stuck pixel is small, but once you notice it you can't un-see it - and proving it to a retailer without a clear full-screen test is frustrating. We wanted a dead pixel test that works on any device, runs entirely in the browser, uploads nothing, and is free forever. No app to install, no account to create, and no data leaving your machine.
What our dead pixel test checks
- Solid color screens for finding dead, stuck and hot pixels on any monitor, laptop or phone.
- Gradient screens for banding, gamma and color uniformity.
- Pattern screens for pixel alignment, geometry and sharpness.
- Backlight uniformity, contrast, text clarity and motion-ghosting tests for a full display health check.

How we test and update
The patterns are rendered locally by the browser and are designed for repeatable visual checks at a display's native resolution. They do not replace a colorimeter, oscilloscope, touch diagnostic or manufacturer warranty inspection. We review testing guidance when browser capabilities, panel technology or published manufacturer policies change.
